And Then, I’m Humbled...

   Well, I’m humbled to announce that the Foggy Mirror has been nominated to - and accepted by - Martin Scriblerus thus, after a battle in the settings area of Blugger, I can proudly exhibit the badge down left the way. A big thank you to those who made the showing of the badge possible. A proud moment for one who’s dumber un a rock.
   Wot comes next one wonders. I’m guessing it’ll be protracted negotiations regards wot I expect compared to wot they’re prepared to pay for each post and if said payments will be retroactive, right? Pardon? Oh, right...
   As for the keyboard problems, it’s annoying but as I know which are the few naughty keys I can live with it for now and if I miss a mistake, my spill chequer is my fiend.
   Let’s end this proud day with a number that I played, after discovering it, at the opening of the course wot I used  to do after retirement relating to the job wot I done did before retirement. A good fit and always got things off to a good start;
So the only thing I'll say
Don't give up on your dreams
Or they will give up on you

Quote;  Rainer Maria Rilke.

“Make your ego porous. Will is of little importance, complaining is nothing, fame is nothing. Openness, patience, receptivity, solitude is everything.”

And Then A Couple Of Letters….

I was sorting through some very old files on the computer last night, and for that read, ‘bored’ and it’s right up there with that other total waste of time  - changing desktop wallpapers and, of course, the all-time favourite, re-arranging the icons.

Anyhoo, while doing the sorting thingy I bumped into a pretty old link to this satirical piece and, damned if it isn’t still out there; updated in 2011!! So, in view of recent and on-going happy world events I thought it may entertain you. On the site there are two versions with various additional paragraphs further down.

In the interests of fairness, balance and good{?} taste, may I humbly direct you to an old post here of another spoof{?} letter relating to Leviticus. Just to show impartiality, okay?   My favourite lines from that one are;
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

Below are a few words from Ernest Hemmingway that fit rather well with the linked ‘letters’ and, indeed, to all of us. Primarily politicians you reckon? Or the ex Arch-wizard of Canterbury who looks like he may have lost his way?  As well as his mind.  And barber.

Okay, this was sent to me by my good friend RS. Thanks big man and how are you and your gang doin’? Good? Good.

Think

By-the-by, I feel a LARK system could work jolly well right here. On so many levels.

To lighten things up a tad, try this ditty.  I caught it in the car this morning……. does that conjure up a ridiculous picture or wot? Let’s try this; while out in the car today, this song came on the radio. It’s a song that has the sticky, sickly consistency of super-thick treacle but at the same time is annoyingly catchy. The up-side? This is the karaoke version! How sad is that then?

And Then Something To Sign….

I was pointed to this by Mr Puddlecote, did the bizz and thought, why not? So without further adid, I glued the signing sights widget over there, left the way, above that photo of the good looking, jolly little fellow who, by the way, is a perfect example of the complete reverse of that old song about ugly ducklings wot grow up to be cool and good lookin’.

That’s the background, all you have to do now is please click on the widgie thingy and do the signing bit. Thanks. Pardon? you don’t smoke or vape?  Please pay attention. I didn’t ask if you smoked or vaped; I asked, nicely I thought, if you’d please go sign-up, okay? And pass the word along too. Thanks.

Please head over here to get the full SP. Here’s a taster;
”You don't need to be a smoker or vaper, just an EU citizen who would like - at least this once - for the EU to have their daft, unthinking rules exposed and challenged for the objectionable nonsense that they are.
Now wouldn't that be a thing, eh?”

Quote;  John Muir.

“The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.

And Then Two Places To Visit….

Even as I type I know I’m way behind you lot with these two places of interest. So why bother?  Just in case.

The first spot, with thanks to Bishop Hill who got there via Frack-Land, is a site set up by Cuadrilla. This interactive, panoramic site is worth a visit if you’re considering packing your eco friendly knap-sack and knickers in the near future and taking off to do a tad of protesting. You could possibly pick your prime protest point.  You know what? Thinking ahead, when it’s all done, I’ll bet those ‘filthy’  drillers leave their work site as clean as it was  the day before they arrived. Whereas the protesters…...

Rig

I got to the second site via No Tricks Zone and it’s a real-time global weather system view. All the usual mouse clicky bits work for zooming an’ moving an’ stuff like that. Click on your home and the little box at the bottom – bottom! He, He, He. Stop it!! Grow up!! The box shows  that locations present wind speed. How cool is that then? As a note of interest, you see that really big twirly-whirly thingy at the left of the screen capture? Seems Him Thing Big Fella Huff an’ Puff doth this way come……

Map

One thing though. It’s pretty obvious to us of an observant nature that this computer program was put together some time ago. At least before that global warming took off big time. How can you tell? Well, take a closer look. See it? On their map Somerset is still shown as terra firma and not, as it actually now is, a really, really big lake.

And over at Guido Fawkes drum is a ‘lovely’ video clip with a far more lovely swift hit below by one Patrick Wintour ; PM has arrived in Somerset to examine the floods, and bring back the remains of Lord Smith. How I did chuckle.
