And Then, A New Start...

May I start by wishing everyone out there a perfectly Covid compliant, unsociably distanced, tiny tots tear {Insert Number}, totalitarian  New Year. And let’s look forward to another year of media doom, gloom, hysterically negative one sided ‘reporting’.
And a special word for all those NHS, blessed be its name, staff who are working themselves above and beyond the point of exhaustion to better each others song and dance routines on Look-At-Media.
Well, so, you thought things were tough last year? The good Ripper has unearthed a clip of a little of wot’s soon to come our way. You youngsters thought punctuation was evil? Get amongst this then.  Sorry, couldn’t get that embedaration thingy to work so try
clicking this wot’s in blue.
However, it’s not all gloom and doom for next year and there’s a very up-beat take over at Head Rambles. Oh, wait a minute...
Bringing up the back end, that Brexit thingy is done – well, after a fashion anyway, and the media are still only finding business leaders who’re confused and uncertain. Four years to prepare for any eventuality and they’re still lost? You believe that?
Anyhoo, let’s have this number again for all those lost Captains of Industry, panty wetter's, Timidadians and all those that feel they need a hand to clutch at all times as they navigate the sometime rocky road of life.

And Then A Joyous Day...

Oh wot a day of unbridled joy and excitement mixed with a little mental anguish.

Firstly, the nonstop looping of an elderly lady being broadcast as being the first to get the Scooby-flue jabber-dabber-do.  Wot could possibly go wrong having something with unknown long term effects pumped into you eh? Good luck madam, I wish you well. Really, wot could possibly follow that for pure tear inducing joy?

This could. Imagine my unbridled excitement to find the government had paid ten pounds into my bank account. This is a Christmas gift, I’d forgotten all about, from them up thereto us folk of more mature years down here. That’s very nice of them but do they not realise the mental anguish this can cause some of us old folk as we wrestle with wot best to do with this unexpected windfall?

All that remains now is another two hundred dabs from the government us oldies get to help us keep warm for the one week of our choice, through the winter. I do believe this yearly payment will need a serious overhaul when that tussle haired Mad Madumba’s energy plans, staring wind, solar and thermal, start to bite. It’ll probably need increasing to something approaching two hundred dabs a week...

In other news, I see A K Haart is working hard towards winning the investigative journalist of the year award.

And Then, Stuck In Reverse...

Regards my recent voyage back in time, Anonymous Rick left a comment the other evening, a snip of which is below;

“And remember cap guns and cowboy outfits (hat, waistcoat, gunbelt, sheriffs badge)? And water pistols (can you still get those?).”

Now, the mention of cap guns tripped my trigger, so to speak, so may I humbly point any of you of an age back a ways? I can? Thanks. Let’s face it, back then was more fun than fast-forward to here and now, right? Posts were put together back in 2010 so links may not be wot they used to be and as it’s back to the olden days, I do, again, apologise for the use of punctuation and capitalization but please don’t assume the gender of said grammar; it can be wot you wish it to be, okay?

Without further adid, here’s a bit about caps. The link to Super Caps no longer works so try this link to see some. Can you still buy a cap gun? Check this out. I’m somewhat surprised and they seem tad more scary lookin’ than I remember.

And as a back at ya Anonymous Rick, have at this. Remember those adverts? Bet you do now! No idea why I made the pictures so small but I’m sure you know how to embiggen them. And that’s another broken link so try this one. Damned if you can’t still buy one!
Addendumadodad: And now, in wot seems like the blink of an eye, I’ve moved on from those fun adverts to adverts for stair lifts and mobility scooters... Not quite, but you get my drift.

Water pistols? Not quite like I remember...

Anyhoo, I need to stop ‘cause if I keep going back I’m going to end up wearing a diaper again and that’d be me covered top and bottom, and typing gibberish. Say wot now? Oh, about that I be sad and overflowing with sorrowfulness.

And Then, Seems It Worked....

Well, that post posted okay last night so this one should do the same, right? It’s only technology, right? What can go wrong? You know what? If it doesn’t work tonight I don’t care. Why? It’s my happy birthday. Happy? One year older and thus one year less here and I should be happy? Folk wish you Happy birthday. Wouldn't some sort of sympathy salutation be more appropriate? I don’t care what’s going on or what a mess everything is in, I still prefer being here than nowhere. I mean where’s the fun in nothingness? As I put out the lamps last night my little nest of vipers said, “Wake up happy.”
My reply? “Wake up will be good and once I’ve confirmed I’m still here then I’ll consider my happiness quotant.”
”Wha...?”
”Gnight.”

I did, indeed, awake this AM and confirmed I’m  still here by the simple expedient of reaching out a hand and moving a solid, heavy object. Pardon? No, she was already in the shower.

And now for something sent to me by an old friend relating to E-mail. I have the sneaky feeling I’ve posted this before but at my age I can’t remember what I posted a couple of days ago. That’s my excuse. In fact this morning, on my way for a shower, I picked up a shirt to put in the laundry basket in the bathroom. Just a hop and a skip and I was in the bathroom turning on the shower and wondering why I’d  got a shirt under my arm.

Okay, I found the post. It was a year ago to the month so if you missed it or are interested in finding out how E-mail can change your way of thinking, you’ll find it at the other end of this linky-clicky bitty.

Talking of being happy, as mentioned other years, get a few family photos together in a file on your beige box, head shots be good, the goofier the better, and then head over here for the updated Elf Yourself. It’s dead quick, dead simple, dead funny and, trust me, well worth the visit. It cracks her indoors right up. Me to, truth be known...
