And Then, I’m Hurt...

Further to the last post and a comment left by Doonhamer, I was reminded of how hurt and offended I was, when working with folk from Australia, when I was referred to as a Pom. I mean how racist and hurtful can you get?  And let’s not forget that other really big country where I and thus us are called Limeys. For me it was many years ago yet I still feel racially abused and hurt and suffer from many a traumatically sleepless night. Bloody Yanks. Oh, sorry.
This all begs the question, where are the TV adverts for lawyers offering ol’ whitey racist, hurty words claims for compensation then? Hell, I’ve just seen the offer for claiming damages if you’ve been hurt{?} using talcum powder.
No, really. So where are Lawyers For Naughty Hurty Words.com?
And to close here’s a little number for all those NHS, blessed be its name, folk wot are having another phew hours off to gurn and dance about outside their places of work:
Oh, playback disabled on other sites, bummer, so here’s the link.

I like Australians. It all started when I shared a flat with an ever-changing group in the late sixties. We lived near ‘Kangaroo Valley’, (Earls Court), off Fulham Road, and they were happy days.

Once, I actually heard one chum say to another ‘You tubing tonight Sod’? (Translation – ‘Do you fancy a pint of beer this evening Roger’?) Their terms of friendship, generosity, jokes and general good nature was endearing, and very funny to others as well! They worked mostly in advertising, were great company, and we always seemed to be laughing at something or other. (That was also the first time that I ever heard the term ‘punch a grogan’ as well, but don’t go there just now…)!

They very occasionally got a bit fed up, when an English chum used to mutter, 'Too true Blue' every time he felt like having a dig at them, but we always remained good friends, and if we were called Poms occasionally as well, we couldn't care a damn!

Flat dwelling back then worked well if everyone did their bit...

Scrobs,
I can relate to your words. Always got on great with any and all I worked with and when we got ashore? They loved to party hearty. Happy daze.
Have to admit 'punch a grogan' is a new one on me but I have a vivid imagination...

Scrobs,
I don't remember punch a grogan but Google is your friend. Seems my vivid imagination was way off with that one.
