And Then Another Nudge...

Do you remember this post I posted with links inside to posts relating to the ‘guidance’ on the use of sunshine and also to another Foggy post on the subject of the same subject relating to tin hat foolery? Hello? You still with me? Remember now? And how you all laughed at my thought process and how ridiculous my thoughts are? Remember now?

Well, what do you think of the burkini then? The what? The burkini. Okay, it’s a joke, right? You think so? Check this out then. And the nudge this time is helpfully provided by that stalwart of British retailing, good ol’ Marks & Spencer. Or as her indoors calls them, Marks Expensive. Getting less foil hat funny by the day is it not?

Finally, well, I hope not, but finally for this post, yet another back track to the Sad Thought post. A comment has been added by Weekend Yachtsman, a quote from Conrad, which needs putting up front for all you readers of advancing years. Not too sure if it’ll do much to cheer you up though.

"I remember my youth and the feeling that will never come back any more--the feeling that I could last for ever, outlast the sea, the earth, and all men; the deceitful feeling that lures us on to joys, to perils, to love, to vain effort--to death; the triumphant conviction of strength, the heat of life in the handful of dust, the glow in the heart that with every year grows dim, grows cold, grows small, and expires--and expires, too soon--before life itself."

Let’s close with a song. Like me, you probably don’t like that Hip-Hop soundin’ stuff at all and feel you’re way to old for that weird modern ‘music’ but, trust me, hit play and you may, just may, be pleasantly surprised and, by close, even find you’ve found a little hope. I like the line, “Started at the bottom scrounging an’ scraping.”

Dear Mr. Mirror,

I have been perusing your 'Blog' for a while now and find it extremely amusing for which I thank you.

I felt the need to actually comment on this item as I wish to express special thanks for the musical interlude you included. This as you promised I was very pleasantly surprised and entertained by.

By way of reciprocation and with a similar hybrid of styles I urge you to listen to the following. If you never thought you would slap your thighs and shout YeeeeHah to a number by The Pink Floyd try this.

Yours etc. etc.

Brigadier O’Deere,

Thanks for your kind words. I can only do the best I can with the brain I was blessed with as I have no idea, at my age, how to upgrade to one with more RAM...

As for the link, thank you very big! That’s some pretty cool pickin’ goin’ on right there.

As a by-the-by, when Pink Floyd were just kicking off, a friend went to see them in, I think, Edinburgh. No seats were available near the stage and when he rolled up he saw why. The first five rows of seats had been removed to facilitate their sound system. He maintains his hearing was never quite the same after that evening.

I can indeed sympathise with your friend.

When a mere sapling I saw The Pink Floyd perform in a very large field in Hertfordshire i believe where they employed what was i understand they called a quadraplegic 'sound system' which I can only believe was called such as no-one could stand it, it was awful. They did though have a Spitfire and a Hurricane to start the show which was spiffing.

Keep up the good work :-)

Brigadier O'Deere,

The volume was the thing back in the day was it not. It could hide so many errors in the actual playing of the music. At least those beautiful old aircraft made up for the iffy 'sound system'.

Keep up the good work? I'll do my best. With moderate volume.
