Yesterday, after composing my post in Windows Live
Writer, I discovered that WLW would not connect to Blogger. Again. I had to
resort to copying the post, going to Blogger, logging in and pasting it into the
compose window of Blogger. As you've probably guessed, as indeed I didn't, it's
an authentication incompatibility issue between these two wondrously humungous
communications companies. Communications? Can't communicate with each other? how
sad is that then?
As Windows Live Writer was all but abandoned by
Microsoft back in 2012, thus I guess the lack of interest in keeping up with
authentication protocols, it seems a team has been working on making it open
source. This is now available as Open Live Writer. This I downloaded with great
excitement only to discover, you guessed it, it also, at this time, has
authentication problems.
For those with an interest, here are a couple of
links;
Open Live Writer. What it's all about and what, at
this time, is missing. As noted in the above link it seems it doesn't presently work with Blogger. But they're
working on it…
If by any chance you use WLW and Blogger and have
encountered problems, this post of mine won't help solve anything but may help
you understand what's going on.
