And Then You Couldn’t...

I typed this on Friday afternoon only to run into this on Saturday evening. Weep for liberty lost.
“Police urge Brits to spill the beans on neighbours suspected of breaching coronavirus lockdown: Telephone 'hotline' and online 'snoopers' forum are set up as scores of people still break rules after five days in isolation.”

I only read {for read, read red} a few of the comments as it seems, sadly, that many folk are quite happy with this idea. Of course once this emergency is over, these snooper hot-lines an’ such, will be discontinued in a heartbeat, right? Right? Wot’s that old adage again? You couldn’t make it up. Really? A brilliant way to encourage care in the community.

I’m also, as I’m sure you are, getting Emails from ‘my’ bank. Interestingly, the latest states their branches will be open for reduced hours and only for extreme emergencies. Wot these emergencies may be isn’t listed. Guess wot? They say that owing to an increasing number of retail outlets refusing cash, they’re increasing the limit on contactless payments. A final kicker was the fact that they’ll do their best, in these difficult, uncertain times, to keep their ATM machines working as long as possible. Softly, softly, a step at a time.

Also, have you noticed how the MSM are ramping-up the fear factor? Not long ago fatalities were reported along the lines of, “Deaths related to...”. Now? “Killed by...”. Whoa!! Does that sound super scary or wot?

On a final thought, will the letter I’m eagerly awaiting from our glorious leader, contain my pass for the allotted two hours a week I’m going to  be allowed out for consumables shopping? A pass generated, alphabetically from the electoral rolls? The way things are going, I guess I’ll be reading about that one come Monday evening...

It's amazing how keen some people are on becoming an informer. The slightest whiff of independence seems to upset them.

A K Haart,
So true. We're seeing the best in many folk and sadly, the worst in so many more.
