And Then, Memories...

Yesterdays piece about video formats came about while I decided to take a stroll down memory lane which was when I encountered the video format conundrum.
You may remember… Pardon? Oh. Well, so, when I retired all those years ago, I was approached by the Marine Manager in Singapore and asked if I’d be willing to put together - and conduct - a three day course covering the moving of a jack-up rig from preparation, leaving the old location, the tow, pinning on the new location, pre-loading and jacking to working air gap.
I accepted the challenge and put a course together during my last two trips which were spent in Singapore rather than on the rig. Bummer eh? This course was accepted by management thus I started.
Three days a month globe hopping, meeting new friends, reuniting with old and getting paid for the pleasure was a great way to ease out of the world of work. And the course, with two way interaction encouraged, was a success with many a warm feed-back. My best remembered? ‘Great to have fun while learning.’ Whoa!! You hear that trumpet? Or is it just me?
While putting the course together I downloaded a few illustrative videos from the Tube-of-You. All I did with some was add my own Acid Express sounds.
Anyhoo, giving all that no never mind, this reminded me of an old video that perfectly sums up the subliminal message hidden deep inside the course for when things go a tad awry and not quite as planned and here it is.
WARNING: This clip is most definitely NOT for Timidadians or those wot are woke. Anyone else contemplating a click, if you’re amongst polite or young company, get them there ear buds in right now, okay? Warnings understood? Give it a click an’ a smile then.

Mac,
It won't surprise you to know that its the same in every industry. Om a smaller scale I know, but that song just bought memories to me of the place I just left. When on the day shift, its the night shift's fault and when on nights, its the day shift's fault.

The Ozzies are great for telling it like it is. You ever seen any Kevin Wilson? If you know of the guy you'll be pleased that his daughter is now carrying on his legacy.

In reply to your comment in the previous post, I hadn't heard of clipchamp so will investigate it. On first sight though it seems to be a shareware program but we'll see how it works.

Problem with replacing Movie Maker is/was its ability to work well with stills, applying transitions and pans. The video editors around right now work well with video clips but not so good with stills.

So far (and I haven't looked much just lately) I've come up with 2 video editors, both with promise but still things let them down:

Shotcut - this was originally a linux program which is now cross platform. Everything was there but it was very slow and crashed a lot (not checked for updates in a while). Not user friendly either.

OpenShot Video Editor - Open source, cross platform. Its got all the stuff needed to edit a video but very few, if any transitions or effects. Just downloaded an update to that one which I'll try out.

Ripper,
Yes, I'm sure that number 'works' for many places of work.
Some time soon, I'm going to give the movie maker hidden in Photo a go and I'll report back. First job is to find out how get the default black background changed as working on black would drive me nuts. But that's just me. More an' on.

Ripper,
Quick update; going light was a no-brainer - Settings, Light.
You might need to wait a tad longer regards usability.
