And Then A Bug Fix...

I see Bill Gates is all over the news today touting a bug vaccine. Seems it’ll be ready in a few months but to get it quickly to the citizenry, will have to bypass all those pesky, stringent clinical trials and tests any other new medicine or drug has to go through. However, I doubt there will be any monetary gain in producing a vaccine to inject the entire global population with, right?

Never mind that, let’s think this through. This is Bill touting this vaccine so who knows wot else Billy will sneak into the vaccine.

Assume, under your tinfoil hat, that he did, indeed, sneak something in, then consider how stable and bug free Billy 10 is on your computer. Do you really want a pretty much untested variant of Billy 10 – let’s call it Billy 10V – injected and installed in your body? Let’s not forget all the ‘hidden’ bits you weren’t expecting; for example, Cortana screeching about in your head all day and night wanting another tin can to talk to.

And then? Then the weekly ‘straight to head’ messages, ‘There’s a critical update available for Billy 10V. We’ll download, install and restart you while you sleep tonight. This update has many bug fixes and a new predictive speech** feature.’

Also, just think of  the increase in road traffic accidents. Imagine you’re tootling along, guided by your in-head Billy 10V satnav, along your rout which is continually being monitored by the Ministry For Approved Travel, via Billy 10V, to ensure you don’t deviate from your requested and approved journey and everything suddenly goes Billy-blue and the last message you ever get is, ‘Billy 10V build V5893746574 has encountered a problem and is shutting you down. Bu-By.’

Think I’ll take my chance with the bug...

**The chip who invited predictive text died earlier tomorrow. He pissed away peacefully in his sheep and his funfair is next monkey.
