Terrible news from the US today. I noted the authorities and MSM were at pains to stress this ghastly incident wasn’t terror related. Not terror related? Are they nuts? I’m betting all those being sprayed by hot led were gripped with real terror.
Then the authorities over there asked the public to send any pictures or video clips to them to help with investigations. This, along with all the smartphone footage of those folk trying to vote down there in Spain, got me wondering wot the revolution here, should it come to pass, will look like.
Look at the footage from Spain again and you’ll notice that for every hundred ‘demonstrators’ assembled to the front of the police lines, it looks like only a handful of them are actually trying to break through. The rest? Waving their smartphones about hoping to grab a bit of ‘sensational’ video that’ll get them their brief moment of glory across all those social media platforms. ‘Social media’; don’t you hate that term? Oh, and let’s get it on YouTube.
Looks to me like smartphones have made CCTV all but obsolete.
Right, will there be a civil war here if we don’t get a clean break from the EU as voted for by the majority? Possibly, but how will it be fought? Are we going to to smartphone the opposition into submission?

Watching those black armour clad "policemen" I was reminded very strongly of that bit in "Animal Farm" where Napoleon lets the dogs loose, thereby terrifying all the animals absolutely fartless. Can't really imagine shaking any of them by their fat old hand and giving them half a crown ...
All a bit choreographed don't you think? The group which provokes the police and the other group looking for the money shot, waving their cellphones...

“Choreographed” - very good point and raises the question, how many of these ‘protesters’ are buddies who scour the news looking for the any upcoming protest, close to home, and roll-up after first deciding who’s turn it is to do the provoking and who’s turn to attempt to get, as you rightly call it, the money shot the provocation hopefully produces?
Again, believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear. A quote for our times?
