And Then, Just Another Day...

As sad, but sadly expected, as the news from London is, let’s stop a moment and spare a thought for all the unsung heroes of these continuing horrors. And those heroes would be? The police? The ambulance service? No, let’s give a thought to the tireless work of the virtue signallers and shrine builders who are coming under increased pressure to perform with every passing day and today, especially,  they must be going through a total mental breakdown.

They woke up this morning all excited about attending the We Are All Manchester lovefest. Concert tickets purchased, travel tickets in pocket, T-shirt ready replete with suitable slogan, rout and timing to venue planned with military precision to maximise chances of getting on camera or even getting ‘interviewed’. That thingy they do with their hands practised to perfection. You know the one I mean. It used to be clenched fists of defiance but it’s morphed into a heart shape gesture of ‘togetherness’. As a by-the-by, I also remember when the call was to ‘...fight them on the beaches..... We will never surrender’. Oh how times have changed; I understand the new clarion call is ‘Run, hide and tell’.

Then those virtue signallers learn of London and their ‘perfect’ day is turned into one of mental chaos.

Damn!! What to do now? Don’t those naughty fellows know it’s all about us? And we haven’t finished with Manchester yet for heavens sake! Wot to do. Cancel Manchester and try to get travel tickets to London? They’ll need shrine builders down there and early doors is good for getting maximum camera time. The T-light and teddy grab-bag’s ready to go. Where will be best for maximum signalling? North with virtue signalling luvvies? All of us smiling and waving our arms aloft, all singing of togetherness and love not hate? Or down the smoke assisting with building the latest shrine in front of the cameras? Damn!! Where will most of the TV cameras be? Oh my, wot to do...

Isn’t it sad when you reach atrocity overload and poking fun at the folk on the fringes doesn’t stir any feeling of guilt.

It is sad but it doesn't stir any feeling of guilt in me either. Not only is it all too predictable, it's probably what the terrorists and their sympathisers want to see.

A K Haart,
You’re probably right but, hay-ho, let's just carry on as normal. Stiff upper lip an’ all that; let’s head down to the shops and get the latest phone; the one with better video and selfie functions...
