And Then, As It’s 21...

How could I forget that the twenty first, as well as being my birthday is also, less importantly, the winter solstice and, spookily, this track goes back to 1976 and features, in cartoon fashion, many of us older folk on a memory dance.

Enjoy your solstice. I do believe I’ll have mine on hot buttered toast. Followed by a cup of Horlicks.

“Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.”

A day late (here, the Memsahib will offer her traditional mirthless laugh) but please accept my best wishes on yet another circumnavigation about the old currant bun. In these fraught days any excuse for modest celebration should be grasped with both paws, particularly as we forge through the winter years.

Jethro Tull - 'Life's A Long Song' still takes me back to the days of my youth. How the hell did I make it to adulthood??

Caratacus,
Thank you for those nice words. Back to days of youth - and a little further. Isn’t it amazing we made it? Even though we played out without supervision only heading for home when hungry, climbed trees without fall arrestors, rode bikes without little plastic hats and even crossed roads without the assistance of little green men!! And the scary thin is, we did it all without a ‘smart’ phone glued to the side of our heads. Stands back in amazement!!
