And Then, A Staple Food...

If you’ve passed through The Foggy Mirror more than a slack hand-full of times you’ll know that I’m a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to all things culinary. I judge pork by how easy it is to pull, a potato by the size of the frozen wedge and the flavour of the added spices and other vegetables by the amount of batter they’ve managed to cram onto an onion ring.

When it comes to dessert, it needs to be sweet. Sticky is another winner. Someone say pancakes and treacle? Here I be! I bet you remember when your mum had a baking day and it was absolutely  imperative you were there when the mixing was poured into the baking tins so’s you could lick out the mixing bowl and wonder, yet again, why the bulk had to be ruined via the cooking process.

Anyhoo, with the rise and rise over here over the past few years of they big sort of half baked, doughy cookies - almost back to raw cake mix - and whilst perusing the various display cabinets in a large fine dining emporium, as I tend to call the freezer store, I spotted something that had my heart all a flutter.

If you haven’t already tried it, pick up a tub of Ben and Jerry’s Cookie Dough which is vanilla ice cream containing crumbled chocolate chip cookie dough. Man, it’s good and for sure, trust me on this, two tubs in the fridge is two tubs too few...

I don't have a particularly sweet tooth, in fact I don't have many teeth anyway, but I'm partial to a warm scone with jam and a good dollop of mascarpone cheese.
