And that would be the setting up of the new telling-bone.
Lessons learned from the past regards wallpaper picture with phone number. Previously, I chose a picture, added text – the number – on the tap-top and beamed it across only to find sizing sucked. repeat several times. This time? Pick a photo of my little nest of vipers, beam it across and that served as a template for me to fit the number on the tap-top for best size and position. Save, beam across, set as wallpaper; Roberts your mothers brother.
So that is it, ring tone done, unwanted apps deleted, address book beamed over, calendar widget cool and updated to tap-top calendar. All that remains is to figure out how to make and receive phone calls. I’m kidding right? Not quite.
I asked my little nest of vipers to call me from the other end of the sofa to ensure my ‘old’ number was assigned correctly. Yup, he done did ring. But answering?
Screen lit-up showing the green answer and red hang-up buttons. Not surprisingly, the green answer thingy was pulsing so I tapped it. Nothing. Tap harder, tap two, three times, nothing. Tap harder yet, nothing. Then, unintentionally, I held the green pulsing button and slid my finger upwards. Success! Same hold and slide with the hang-up thingy. I believe the technical term for this action is swipe...
I can actually relate to this technological ‘advance’ as I’ve ended calls, I don’t know how many times, by the simple expedient of fumbling a ringing phone from my pocket.
Let’s move on; no one to call here.
Quote; Ashly Lorenzana.
“Phones with numerical keypads worked best for dialling phone calls. Incidentally, phone calls tend to be the primary function of a phone. 'Smartphones' completely ignore these basic facts, resulting in some of the least intelligent devices I've seen yet. Oh the irony.”

Mac,
Yep, that's Android, swipe up to answer a call, or to reject an incoming call, simply turn the phone over so that the screen faces down. If you want your own screen picture it has to be in hi res to go full screen, that's huge, about 4000 x 3000 and there's so much zoom you could pick out a fly on an elephant's backside from a mile away.
Whatsapp is really useful for making free calls, sending pics and texts that you would otherwise have to pay for in addition to your contract. I'm with Giffgaff so calls to landlines for example are not free, neither are MMS messages. The only downside is that to use Whatsapp I have to be within range of my home wifi, or a free hotspot. It also does video calling and voice messages.
Ripper,
And that's why I found sending a picture and using that as a template seemed to work just fine.
Since close to day one of it, We've been basic, no frills Skype folk.
Works just fine for what we need.
