And Then, That’s Cool...

Seems winter’s on the way although I seem to have spent most of this year waiting for summer to kick-in proper. Making allowances for advancing years, I can’t remember any more than ten days max when I could go out and about in shirt only. If that caused alarming mental images, I’ll clarify, this dress mode did include trousers.
Wot ever the winter will hold for us down here, I feel sure it’ll not be anything in our favour. You know they heat pump thingies we’re all being urged to install? Urged, that is at present, but for sure will gradually be changed from urged to compulsory.
Well, I ran into a comment, a small part of which I’ve copied and pasted below, regards heat pumps. Never mind the huge price of installation, insulation and huge radiators required, If wot’s below in blue is true, they do sound kind o’ scary regards keeping warm in the bleak mid winter do they not? And apparently, expensive to run. And electrickery on the up eh? You will be cold, have nothing and be happy, okay?
Save the planet? How these things will help climate change by calming volcanos an’ such and guard us against the fluctuations of that big bright bomb near by isn’t, at this time, made clear by the believers.

Now the most hilarious bit. When the heat exchanger outside freezes up in low temperatures the heat pump will reverse its cycle to take heat OUT of your house to defrost the heat exchanger! What joy! In a bitterly cold winter you will now live in a three or four bedroom refrigerator, just to keep the Greens happy, and you'll pay through the nose for the privilege of dying of hypothermia. Nice
.
I do believe that, right soon, many, many, folk will be re-opening their fireplaces and periodically nipping into the countryside to chop wood. Pardon? Not allowed to burn wet wood? And that threat will stop folk from trying to keep their kids warm?
Hay, nothing the enviro-mentalists or little Greta Thunder-pants, blessed be her name,  can screech about, right? Hell, how many trees are being chopped, shredded and shipped over here to burn in power stations right now? So several million home fireplaces added to that? Small beer little girl.

Quote;  David Steindl-Rast.

“Day and night gifts keep pelting down on us. If we were aware of this, gratefulness would overwhelm us. But we go through life in a daze. A power failure makes us aware of what a gift electricity is; a sprained ankle lets us appreciate walking as a gift, a sleepless night, sleep. How much we are missing in life by noticing gifts only when we are suddenly deprived of them.”
