I note from the ‘news’ that today is mental health awareness day. I also note that the MSM are doing all they can to calm folks minds with balanced reportage regards the spiralling cost of gas and electrickery and how this will drive ever more and more folk into depression and debt – or deeper debt. There’s also mention of an ‘expert’ predicting at least sixty thousand deaths from flue this winter. And of course the relentless warnings that little ol’ us are killing the planet and all wot dwells thereon. You feel the calm? How’s your head now eh?
Let’s not forget those poor folk fleeing war-torn France and that topic, the BBC, blessed be its licence, ran two stories this AM o’clock; first up the ‘news’ that seventeen thousand{?} of our newest bestest ever friends have paddled across the pond to date this year. This was followed by how we are going to kill off about a million species and thingies because we’re building on so much of our country. However, those extremely bright, well paid reporters couldn’t see any link worthy of mention between these two topics. Have a stress free mental health day y’all.
However, hidden away in all the doom and gloom I did spot one gloriously bright ray of sunshine. And that would be the ‘news’ that Priti Pointless has confirmed the Afghanistan, apparently pronounced Afghanistarrn, ladies footy team have all been given UK visas. Oh, be still my joyously beating heart.
Then there’s this, courtesy of Rick via the comments. An attitude we all need to hold to. Careful crossing the road girl.
While on the subject of comments; you okay Ripper? It’s been a while old friend.

Mac,
Yes I'm okay and thanks for thinking about me. For the past 4 weeks I've been in the thick of it with the house coupled with 12 hour night shifts. The whole of the upstairs has been torn apart, there's a new stud wall with door frame, false ceiling over the stairs, new doors/frames, electrics, the place has just been completely replastered and there's plaster and wood offcuts everywhere. I've been coming home from work and starting again here. Sleeping at my daughter's or on my sofa. So I just haven't had the time for anything more than a quick read of the blogs. But in the words of Arnie, "I'll be back".
Hope you and the nest of vipers are keeping well.
Ripper,
Thanks for that; good to hear you're okay. 4 weeks? Sounds like the sort of project I'd get done over a weekend or two. Okay, a year or two.
You take it easy old friend.
Thanks for that. Raised my spirits and hopes that there are a lot like her.
Doonhamer,
I'm sure there are but we'll never hear it mentioned via our impartial news outlets I'm afraid. All we can do is hold the line; our own line.
