And Then We Leave...

...sort of, not quite but a good start so it’s time for one and all to unite and pull together as one and make this little island soar like an eagle once more. That includes you lot on all TV news channels. See y’all on the flipflop.

And Then, Inflation...

Foggy, cold and still isn’t it? I bet the grids on squeaky bottom time and they windmills must be really kicking out today round my way. Oh, right; not a breath. Never mind, they solar panels will pick-up the slack. No wot shining? Damn!

Before posting about the title, what’s to do regarding Brexit now? I accept I’m only a tad smarter than a rock and thus am completely lost on where we stand. One thing I have noticed from the news{?} today, is that those super intelligent folk wot are responsible for running the country and wot rule over us, have cancelled their February holidays, poor things, and it’s also suggested that the date we leave the EU could be cancelled owing to the huge amount of work to be done before we are ready to actually leave.

This begs the question, where have they been and what have they been doing since us common folk delivered the instruction for them to ensure we leave the EU? That instruction was duly delivered and accepted, in the same breath he announced he quit, some two and a half years ago, by boy Cummerbund. For two and a half years all the talk has been of ‘crashing out’ and ‘cliff edges’ and they’ve left it all to the last two months to sort all this out? And we’re expected to trust these folk with our country? Pease make it stop.

Anyhoo, a door handle failed this morning. I removed him and found it was the handle spring wot had parted. There are two doors in the sitting room with matching handles. Wot chance of finding a match after all these years? Off to the DIY mega store and first thing of notice was how scary it must be running one of these places; it’s truly huge and there can’t have been more than thirty folk in the place – and twenty of them were staff.

I found the isle for door furniture and after a quarter mile walk along it found the exact self same handles. Okay, I seem to remember that way back, they cost seven pounds a pair and are now nine. No big surprise there then.

Got them home and discovered they are indeed exactly the same. Except... Yup, the new ones are exactly an eight of an inch shorter thus throwing the lower screw positions out just enough to run the risk of a screw slip resulting in a big hole with no hold.

Got it done by utilizing the magic of plastic wood to reinforce the old holes but it’s interesting to see that it’s not only stuff such as cakes and biscuits that are getting smaller. Two pounds up and an eight of an inch down. Inflation and deflation; working hand-in-hand.

And Then I Join In...

To show my undivided solidarity with the MSM and to join in with all things Brexit, I took the decision to ‘crash’ thus this morning I awoke and crashed into a new day. I then crashed out o’ bed, crashed about in the bathroom a while then crashed down the stairs, crashed some coffee into a cup, crashed into my chair and turned on the computer. At this point I was delighted to discover Windows hadn’t yet crashed. Despite Brexit.

I then tuned into BBC radio four for Today program and guess wot? Every topic they covered, that I was mentally tuned into at the time, contained the word ‘crash’; sometimes ofttimes, thus confirming I was in ‘good’ company and ‘on message’.

Anyhoo, let’s give all that no never-mind and, crashing ever onwards, wonder why they call that early morning BBC mind conditioning program Today when every topic they push into your swede relates to wot happened, allegedly, yesterday?

And Then, Vote Two...

I believe another vote regarding this EU thingy has been ruled out by that lady who’s ‘running’ the country. Going on that persons past record I guess another referendum could be announced any day soon.

That apart, over the past forever, lots of jolly important and ‘cleaver’ fellows have been demanding another vote; this time to be called a peoples vote. The first problem with that, regarding wot a ‘people’ actually is, has already been typed about. Secondly, I’m not too sure how that’d work out anyway as the ‘cleaver’ folk calling for this vote are pretty much all the same folk who called the seventeen some million folk who voted Leave in the last ‘go’, elderly, white, uneducated nutters. So how would this second vote work? I can only assume the seventeen some million elderly, white, uneducated nutters will be excluded, right?  Those lost votes could be more than made up for by giving six year olds the vote of course. As a by-the-by, an academic, the head of politics at Cambridge University no less, is the brains behind that idea. Wonder no more why we’re in the mess we’re in.

Or is it just a case of those important ‘cleaver’ fellows, yet again, failing to engage their brains before opening their mouths? Looks to me like these ‘cleaver’ folk have got the ‘nutter’ label the wrong way round.

And Then The Pillaging...

I spotted an interesting comment on the sight run by John Redwood, MP the other day – and did you spot how I phrased that to avoid the research required to discover how to use that pesky apostrophe thingy? – and thought I’d paste it here so as to reach a much smaller audience. Well done to the author, one Captain Peacock, and my usual apologies. No, I haven’t checked it all as to factual content but as it’s a site run by an MP – apostrophe avoidance again – I’m sure it was thoroughly fact-checked at moderation time. Anyhoo, it’s an interesting and somewhat chilling read.

.....its worth reading when you hear May talking about British jobs. This is what the EU is doing for Britain.

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army’s new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with with EU grants.
Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK were closed eliminating 3,500 jobs.
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU ‘regeneration’ grants, (with job losses and closures)
UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.
The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it’s Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU.
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK. The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.
Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn’t paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK. Name me one major technology company still running in the UK, I used to contract out to many, then the work just dried up as they were sold off to companies from France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc., and now we don’t even teach electronic technology for technicians any more, due to EU regulations.
I haven’t detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don’t even go there.
I haven’t mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.
Find something that’s gone the other way, I’ve looked and I just can’t.

There you have it; take a moment to let that sink in...
                                Sink
Let’s have a toon from the Toggle to encourage the faint of heart, no hopers, jokers and rogues to be of good cheer. It’s all out there waiting for us. Pretty much where we left it forty-some years ago in fact.

And Then A Smile...

Before we get to the smile, I spotted two news items this morning via a Google News portal that demonstrate quite well how we are being governed at present. One ‘headline’ states that three fellows have been left injured after a shooting incident in, of all places, London. The ‘headline’ directly below that states that the government is considering tighter controls of fireworks. Heavens knows wot kind of a mess we’d be in if our ‘leaders’ hadn’t got their priorities sorted out in order of importance eh?

Okay, in these dark days it seems all those who voted to leave the EU have only one more thing to do; start a campaign to declare a date, round about now, to become a public holiday to be known as The Day Democracy Died. 3D for short. Sadly, even if we got one, we may have to forego any fireworks...

Right, despite all the doom and gloom, there’s still  room to laugh at ‘em and all power to those who take the time to give us the reasons to do just that. I feel fairly confident you’ll have seen this, but just in case. Usual Timidadian warning as the subtitles contain some rather naughty words. Have at it:

And Then, It’s Over...

...I think. Is it really over? Wot now? No idea. Wot’s this Brexit thingy all about now? I listened a while to Old Ma May taking questions in the House this morning and other than spotting a possible new entry for the Guinness Book of Records for the number of times she used the word{?} ‘err’, this simple fellow neither understood nor learned anything.

It seems the ‘withdrawal agreement’, rather than just containing the simple term bu-by, is five hundred pages of ‘in the event of’ stuff, backstops, full stops, dead stops and similar all of which it would seem means we might, just might leave sometime in the far future. But never forget the catch-all, ‘However...’

As for the nut jobs screeching for a ‘peoples’ vote, what’s that all about? Why are they never asked wot species voted in the original referendum? Did I get a ballot paper in error as I’m pretty sure I was a ‘people’ even back in 2016.

These politicians are acting exactly like us old folk, who, upon driving into a strange city for the first time, find themselves trapped in some weird city centre one way road system that seems impossible to escape from even though you can see, again, exactly where you want to be just over there on the right; right at the ‘No Right Turn’ sign.

As stated before, these civil serpents and politicians are so damn cleaver they can tell you the cubic capacity of a jar of pickles at a glance but, sadly, have absolutely no idea how to get the lid off.

Now wot? Prepare pitchfork? Prepare for Jerry Carbine and the Mad MaDumba to take over? Prepare escape luggage? If ever there was a time when UKIP and all those other ‘fringe’ parties should unite and start shouting loudly, this is it.

And Then A Mystery...

Seems that Brexit thingy isn’t going too well with all kinds of folk saying we should have yet more votes with a view to staying in the EU as all us leave voters didn’t have a scooby what we were voting for.

Well, I for one did and I knew wot we’d be ‘sacrificing’ but on the off chance I didn’t, that young Cammer-Cowered sent me a leaflet, costing nine million dabs, stating quite clearly wot we’d be leaving. In fact I believe everyone got a copy; not just me. Then, when the vote went against his wishes, in true cowardly form, he threw his toys out of his pram then turfed himself out as well.

What’s so mysteriously hard now? How many times have you been in a gastro pub or such, had your meal, risen to leave only to be approached by twenty odd staff members questioning you as to why you’re leaving, how many napkins you’ve used? Did you overuse the condiments? Will you please pay for two more puddings as those folk over there would like one but can’t afford them. Oh, and a prawn cocktail for that chap, okay? And just in case you pass by this way in the future, please pay for two more meals now. Say wot? You want to take your coats with you? That’ll be extra. And before you leave, would you kindly go and sit over there by the fan for a few more hours while we count the cutlery. Thank you very big.

Does that happen? No? Right. You enjoy – or not – your meal, pay your bill, proffer tips as you feel necessary, don your outer garments, head for the door and leave. You really don’t give it no never mind where they get their meal ingredients as it will make not one iota of difference to your own purchasing preferences and meal preparations.

So Mrs May-be-even-more-useless-than-we-thought, stop pretending you’re an actress, stop looking at the door as there’s nobody there; that loud knocking noise is us in here wanting out so get real, open it and bravely lead us through and out.

Some hope eh?

And Then, Be Prepared...

I see the news is all about that deadly nerve agent that left a cat and a hamster dead in its wake again with everyone squealing that it was Vlad the lads boys wot done did it.

Me? I still don’t buy it and putting aside dodgy timelines an’ such, I have a couple of thoughts on the subject. These would be the thoughts of a simple man and one is, going on the CCTV images of the ‘bad boys’, I have to assume they were better turned out when they were interviewed and granted visas as businessmen by our embassies visa department over there the way. Rigorous background checks an’ all?

Me? I also understand that Russia has been in the espionage and clandestine operations business for an awful long time all around the world so, if it was them, why, when they had two folk to dispatch here, did they suddenly resort to dispatching two fellows who obviously hadn’t even completed chapter one of Clandestine Ops For Dummies relating to the avoidance, or not looking directly at, any CCTV cameras and to always wear a big floppy hat or a hoody when out and about in the target country.

Me? Did you see the pictures of some of our armed forces landing somewhere in Europe the other day? With the star spangled sphincter badge sown on the arm of their uniforms? Have you heard the government, via an unquestioning MSM, screeching about the danger presented by those naughty Russians and how they pose ‘a real and active threat to the UK’.  Standby now for the narrative to slowly{?} change to start reflecting that, in such troubling times with the might of Russia to face up to, there is only strength in numbers and it would be utter folly to withdraw from the protection afforded by membership of the EU and all its ‘united’ members as unity is strength and the best protection at this dangerous time. And for the foreseeable future of course. JD.

But that’s just me you understand.

And Then Business...

Seems something called Brexit is in the headlines again today. Oh, wait a minute, it’s been up there for a goodly while now, right? Wot I keep hearing from various business running type folk the media wheel out is how ‘crashing out’ without a deal{?} will be disastrous for their businesses. These fellows are never pressed regarding in wot way it’ll be disastrous for their business.

Anyhoo, let’s assume these folk are quite bright to have got where they are and exhibit quite a bit ruthlessness in their daily dealings. In the beginning? At some point I guess they had an idea. They pursued that idea, drew-up pro and con columns and if the pro column beat the con column they continued, obtained seed finance and kicked off after sourcing local markets.

Time passes and the company expands and thus finds customers in other countries and all is going swimmingly until boy Cummerbund offers an EU In/Out vote stating quite clearly that, in the very unlikely event of OUT winning, out would most definitely mean out. OUT.

Whoa!! Right out of left field, seventeen odd million old, white, knuckle-dragging, swivel-eyed racists threw a spanner into their world by voting OUT.

Going back above, and assuming these entrepreneurs are smart, wouldn’t you, in their position, right there, right then get your teams exploring how to maintain customers and acceptable profit margins for all  deal, no deal, cliff-edge, crashing out scenarios right off the vote bat thus having answers and contingency plans in place within a week of the vote for any and all eventualities? And they’ve had over two years and are still crying? Are we to believe these captains of industry and those business super brains have just been sitting quietly waiting for the government to tell ‘em wot’s wot and are incapable of operating without having their hands held and runny noses wiped?

I kind o’ hope it’s just the negative ‘power players’ the media wheel out to suit their own narrative and the great majority of captains are indeed getting on with business rather than having spent the past two years plus crouched in their darkened bedrooms sobbing and wetting their panties in fear.

Crashing out – don’t you love it? We’ve been running towards this supposed crash for over two years now and in my world, even at my age, that’s time aplenty to avoid that little old lady in the broken-down Nissan Micra in the middle of the road up ahead.

And Then That Brexit...

Any idea how that Brexit thingy’s going? You remember that vote we had, back in the mists of time, when me and many more voted for leaving the EU? Remember that happy feeling you had the day after casting your vote upon discovering that, against all the odds, us leave folk had got the majority at the box? Wherefore art we now? We’re still in the EU, right? So what’s going on?

Please don’t ask me as I have absolutely no idea what’s going on other than lots of negotiating relating to how much stuff the UK will give away and I honestly believe we aren’t really leaving. I find it impossible to believe that our ‘highly intelligent’  betters, with their fingers on the pulse of World affairs, can’t see wot even a dumb ass such as I can see;  the EU is on a cliff edge. Do our betters really want us to go over the edge with it? Or have they been instructed to keep us in by them over there because they’re going to need a really big bailout bucket come tipping point...

I thought leaving the comforting skirts of the EU was going to put us on a cliff edge. A cliff edge to the left of us; a cliff edge to the right of us.

If we’re stitched-up will it kick-off? Let’s hope those in high places get it together and do wot the result of the vote instructed them to do before it does. Fat chance? Fat chance. And they’re concerned about the rise of the ‘far right’? They’re doing everything they can to give it all the support they dread with the way they’re kicking cans and caving in to all demands at the moment are they not?

And Then, School Lunch...

Down and down we go. If you haven’t seen this, read and weep.

In these days when, so it’s reported, many young kids – and indeed many not so young – have no idea where even milk comes from, how about the parents getting hold of the headmistress, who looks suspiciously like she should still be in school by the way, and getting  her to personally arrange and take the little treasures on a trip to an halal slaughterhouse.  Veganism beckons...

And for my second ‘If you haven’t seen this’, have you seen this? Seems like the death knell of freedom to type and to link to other stuff is imminent so I’d better make haste with the last bit below. Would a VPN shake the chains off? I’ve used Tor Firefox when I was working far away so I could access the UK lottery, and how sad is that then? It’s slow but slow has to be a hundred percent improvement over nothing, right?

I have but one more ‘if you haven’t seen this’ for you this wet Saturday. Have you seen this? Just a link without any of that screen filling wizardry as the comments are worth a perusal. The end of this chaps speech is spookily lacking in applause...

Just a quick note on the introduction of censorship of the Inter-Web. This morning my little nest of vipers decided it was time to wash the spare duvet. Wot to do? Search Google for the best method of course. Best answer? “Follow instructions on label attached to duvet.” Damn! On reflection, it could be a good idea to shut the Web down all together. Who was it said, Google can give you one hundred thousand answers but a librarian can give you the right answer.

Oh, and please do go over to Nourishing Obscurity and read the old letter. Priceless; right up there with this classic.

Finally, and please don’t ask me wot it’s about, but consider yourselves notified regarding something or other regarding wot I’m not sure – cookies? Data mining? Something to do with that bar thingy up top? No idea and if they’re shutting us down soon anyway, no interest.

And Then Down And Down We Go...

If you haven’t already had the misfortune to read of the latest decent into unreality, please pop over to Head Rambles. Feel free to start shaking your head in disbelief even before you click on the link.

Lord only knows what we’ll find when the bottom of that barrel folk are frantically scraping at finally gives out and we all fall through. Tell you wot; it ain't going to be very pretty.

As for that Brexit thingy, the media seem to be in hyper drive at the moment with, allegedly, only a year to go for us to be gone I thought a picture I shamelessly stole from somewhere some time ago would be worthy of a few pixels here.Babies

And Then, She Spoke...

No, I haven’t listened to or read {red} the ladies speech but, as is my want, I just read {read} various Web site headlines then skip to the comments for the real people deal. Seems it hasn’t gone down too well and you invariably run into a commenter ripping the speech apart only to have another commenter commenting on that comment with a counter comment only to have yet another commenter tearing the commenter commenting on the first comment a new one and so on and so forth ‘till all the commenters finally admit that none of them have a scooby what Old Mother May meant. In? Out? Shake it all about? Fascinating stuff and would be so funny if it wasn’t so sad.

It’s always been obvious to me that those who would rule over us live in some parallel universe but it wasn’t always as obvious as to how similar our languages are and yet so very different. It would seem, Ma May, that you need to get someone to translate that speech, with all its tricky nuances, into simplified Plebonese so’s us down here can all get a little bit of a grip on what you actually said and what’s really going on, okay?

However, it certainly looks like yet another tin can is whistling down the road. I’ll post my idea on tin can kicking tomorrow after I study my theory in a little more detail. Assuming I can get adequate funding of course. But that’s only common sense.

Remember a couple of days after the vote to leave when Mr Mirage ‘quit’ saying his job was done? I thought at the time, too soon for quitting old boy. And look where we are now. It could be time for Mr Mirage to pull out o’ the garage, rev up, get a tight grip, make his old party hearty and scream back into the fray all guns blazing.

And Then, A Shock...

I was greatly shocked this morning to discover that we’re still in that EU thingy even though we did the 50 yesterday. Apparently it’s going to take two years, at a minimum, to actually leave owing to the complexities of the leaving negotiations. Do you think those ‘up there’ are aware that ol’ Mao managed to march his men through five thousand miles plus of inhospitable Chinese terrain, during the Long March, in only one year? All done without computers, smartphones and, as hard as it is to believe, without Twitter.

Surely someone in government or a civil serpent has been keeping records, firstly on paper and later digitised to a really big, searchable spreadsheet? You know, with columns an’ such, marked something along the lines of,  What the EU Demand - with two tickable columns next to it marked Done and Not Done. What the EU Would Like Us To Do – Did & Didn’t. What We/They Have Asked For As A Special Favour – Granted or Refused. And so on. Oh, and if you lot want to buy any stuff we make, drop the manufacturer a line and I’m sure they’ll get it to you and we’ll do the same from our end; just like going to the shops really, okay?

Do the same with all their regulations that have been foisted upon us. Again, there must be a check-list. Mustn’t there? Tick the ones we want to keep, assuming there are some good ones, and cross out the bad ones. There HAS to be a basic, simple check-list as nobody is going to wade through things such as that below. Is it genuine or a spoof? I have no idea but it makes me smile.

The Ground Nuts Order of 1972: In the Nuts (unground), (other than ground nuts) Order, the expression nuts shall have reference to such nuts, other than ground nuts, as would but for this amending Order not qualify as nuts (unground)(other than ground nuts) by reason of their being nuts (unground).

Having typed all the above and reading, again, the Ground Nuts Order and assuming it’s genuine and the civil serpents are going to ‘negotiate’ every such regulation, two years suddenly does, indeed, seem a tad tight. Alternatively, as we’re no longer members of that club, we could just run all the membership paperwork through a shredder and we’d be back to ground zero. However, it may well take two years plus to shred it all...

And Then, On And On It Goes...

I came across this comment on a subject relating to Mayday’s speech of yesterday which is, to me, spot on. Thank you Sir:

Colonel Mustard
Here we are, momentous times and opportunities and the BBC are interviewing yesterday's people about it. The traitors, the moaners, the whingers, the bolshies, the self-haters, the doom and gloom peddlers who cannot accept the fact that they lost the referendum. They lost it.
And now by their crass behaviour they are demonstrating why they lost.

On a different subject, but a beautiful example of the type of person Colonel Mustard is commenting on, did you see that Andrew Neil bloke verbally beat-up that professor the other day? It’s worth a watch. Remember, before you do the clicky bitty, this fellow is a professor. He’s an Oxford University professor. A professor he may be but he’s also a wonderful example of the old saying, hold ‘em up to the light; not a brain in sight.

I imagine, once he was back in his safe space, he was heartily glad that was over and, as bad as it was, assumed it would quickly blow over followed by the usual rapid dust settling. Until that is, a colleague mentions that he’s seen the good prof now has a presence on that YouTube thingy. ‘You know wot old boy? You’ll be out there for ever now. How cool is that then?’

And Then A Comment...

Nice comment relating to those that assume they rule over us which I saw I remember not where but I do remember the commenter had copied it from someone or something called Twitter.

17.4 million people voted to Leave the EU. Today, the views of 3 old men in fancy dress mattered more.

Those legal fellows, at the behest of some extremely wealthy lady and co., have, it seems, just opened that really big box wot used to belonging to Pandora and released all the usual suspects who, it’s safe to assume, will take any and every opportunity to hinder or completely block the delivery of that Article 50 thingy.

However, every cloud has a slightly shiny lining and this is no exception as it’s a given that if any of these blockers get their way, the only blocking they’ll be doing thereafter will be of the drains round their last known location. Those few want to mix it with 17.4 million? Just shows how totally nuts they are.

And Then A Clip...

As the good ship of state continues on her voyage into the unknown, ably guided by our navigators of doubters, disbelievers, hooks, crooks and comic singers, may I present a short clip which may – or may not – show various establishment groups attempting to reorganise themselves on the vessel after huge numbers of the  proletariat voted contrary to the explicit instructions handed down to them  thus blowing and throwing those of, supposedly, higher intellect  right off course and into a complete and utter shambles. How very dare we.

I really don’t think this voyage we’re on is going to end well but I live in hope and anyway, it’s a great song for Saturday...

I still believe the Leave bit of the referendum, the bit wot won, is going to be either ignored or watered down using so much water the winning result will be drowned out to a wet remain.

The MSM is still in all-in overdrive and we even saw that a conservative MP, Anna Sour-loser, stopping off on her way to ‘work’, taking time out to address a bunch of young things demonstrating against democracy, and sobbing how she just couldn’t believe the result and her old mum was still in shock.  Plus the Leave ‘leaders’, they’re winners by the way, seem to be pretty much on the side of a sort of remain now.  I also feel Mr Mirage may have made his happy hour speech a tad too soon.

It’s a bit like being a passenger stuck on a pedalo needing to get upstream, on a leisurely downstream flowing river, to a place called Art Fifty, with the port pedals unmanned as the left are busy destroying themselves without the assistance of the voters, and the starboard pedals  being pumped in the astern direction by the right.

Sadly, with the port pedals unmanned, this is resulting in our pedalo turning in ever decreasing circles. However, the lazy downstream flow of the river is doing the work of the starboard peddler and gently, but with ever increasing speed, carrying us back towards the rock strewn rapids of remain. All ably assisted by the bitter head breeze of the MSM.

The only life-ring I see on these turbulent waters is that if we do, indeed, run back onto the rocks of remain and founder, at the next general election, with the young back in their safe spaces and seventeen plus million voters knowing they’ve been cheated by the elite, there’s every chance a purple tide will wash over the land.

Was that a watery post or wot?

And Then It’s Obvious...

...that there’s absolutely nobody in charge anymore and we’re left with the sound and vision ‘news’ media continuing with their relentless scaring of the gullible and the running down of our country - completely unchallenged. I think this comment, relating to Labours cabinet of shadows, pretty well sums up the whole sorry mess we find ourselves in;

”What we're seeing is by now the huge gap between the country's requirements for governance and the jaw-dropping inadequacy of our political class.”

Away from all that sort of thing, here’s something that may be of interest to a few of you.

I fired up the computer this morning and was presented with one of they Windows incomprehensible text message boxes. This one noted that Windows had detected another computer using the same I.P. address as this computer.

Upon careful digestion of this technical message, I eventually came to the conclusion that what it meant was another computer was using the same I.P. address as this computer. After giving this yet further thought, I thought, what’s that all about then?

What to do? Try, as mentioned before, Shields Up? Right or wrong, why not and guess wot, a port was open again. Guess wot port; yup, DCOM which is, guess wot, yup, a Windows communication port.

Was this opened again by a bully Billy Windows 10 update? No idea but if it was, Bill, it’s just considered good manners to knock on the door and wait until you’re invited in – not to just climb through the kitchen window and join me on the sofa, okay?

Anyhoo, I ran DCOMbobulator again, re-started and that has closed the port and got rid of the I.P. address warning thingy.

On further investigation it may well be the new tablets fault and would appear not to be anything to be too alarmed about. This doesn’t answer the question regarding a port getting reopened though.

Long story short; Running Windows 10? If you wish to make sure all you’re ports are secure from bad folk after Windows updates, check ‘em using Shields Up - I scan ‘All Service Ports’ - or any other port sniffing stuff you may know about. Is Windows 10 the culprit? I don’t know, but I’ll be scanning ports a tad more regularly now.

As an added point of interest, the spell-chequer had a hell of a problem with DCOMbobulator.
