My mother had a set of Maundy money, handed down by her grandmother. I did want to keep it as a memento but my sister put into the lots for auction. It didn't fetch much. Shame, I'm a sentimental old git at heart. I read somewhere that the giving of coins was introduced to spare our monarch the chore of washing poor folk's feet. I'd pay to avoid doing that
