Getting away from some vote of no confidence in Mrs Bojangles and her husband and all the folk giving it maximum well-err-um on the TV, I decided to further investigate a ‘problem’ I mentioned a little bit after a while ago. And that would be?
I mentioned that I’d discovered a folder thus; AppData/Local/Temp wot kept filling up with mysteriously named files. Anyhoo, when I deleted them the other evening, prior to shutting down, I paid attention and was told that a bunch of them couldn’t be deleted as they were being used by that browser belonging to Billy, the boy at the window. Wot? Not open nor had been for many a long day.
This led to more digging and, in the shell of wot used to contain a nut, I discovered that Edge fires up at Windows start–up and runs in the background with no indication of this being so. In settings it was straightforward to stop this happening and that’s when I discovered all of Billy’s apps, those not yet uninstalled, ALL fire up at computer start-up and run in the background.
So a bit of time was spent going through all the apps I thought could be used at some time and changing run in background conserving power to ‘never‘. And guess wot? They were also all talking back and forth with each other and the Edge browser.
Via very cleaver coding, all those temp files don’t delete themselves at shutdown nor does the inter-app chatter just use the temp files already there next time but just keeps making new files thus the vast size that folder could eventually grow to.
Next ‘puter start-up? After deleting the contents of that folder before shutting down as usual, I looked in that Temp folder to find just two entries rather than the going on a hundred at start-up and both related to the screen saver. So ‘problem’ solved? Possibly.
By-the-by, this is Billy 11; is it the same in Billy 10? Hope that helps a few folk.
Time for The Gates again?

Hang on, what's that to do with the only topic anyone's looking at - Carrie Bojo?
James,
My apologies for not commenting on the latest episode of those so loved and laughed at Carrie On hits.
