While doing the clicky around that Tube of You thingy the other evening I ran into the piece further down wot made me smile a while.
Anyhoo, it rang bells relating to an earlier post wot I done did regards punctuation and how a full stop now strikes fear into younger folk.
And we all know the importance of capitalisation as it means the difference between helping your Uncle Jack of a horse or...
This, no, not that, this, got me further thinking about letter writing and if the young have ever written a letter or is it all txt gibberish now? Is letter writing even taught in school anymore? Remember that? How to start a letter and how to end it? Remember Faithfully and Sincerely and which to use and when?
Old and stuck in my ways as I am, I still use that long ago taught letter format even in E-mails to those not - wot shall I say - of too close an acquaintance.
Signatures? How much mail do you get with the catchily memorable signature Sent From My Android Device or Sent From My iPhone? To those, I usually reply, sent from my sofa.
Do folk not know how simple it is to delete that and add a meaningful signature to their phone or tablet E-mail?
Finally, you’ll be delighted to learn, I was recently in recipient of a mass mailing from some outfit purporting to be a financial service and should I wish to avail myself of said service, they offered professional advice regards pensions an’ such; just complete and return the enclosed form. To illustrate their professionalism, the last paragraph of their mail started thusly; ‘Once we have had received...’. Ah shacks ma heed.
Enough already, click below and enjoy. Even if you’re one of the fifty-five and a half million plus folk that’ve already watched it.
