The budget? Give a little then take it back, plus some, by the back door. Wot a surprise eh?
Stop press: Fuel duty going up twenty three percent early next year? Now that’s a big bummer all round is it not?
Council rates going up? I do hope a fist full of the rise goes to council planning departments.
Why? Well, four years ago the council dug up The pavements down the road wot we live on. Pavements? Footpaths? Sidewalks? I’ll stick with pavements.
Anyhoo, both sides were definitely in need of attention and after a couple or four weeks they were all new and looking good.
Sadly, eighteen months later along came the gas board who dug trenches along the new pavement and large parts of the fifteen foot wide grass verge that seperates the pavement and the road. All done and patched okay but the pristine look was lost.
Then, three days ago, along comes the waterboard and guess wot, trenched the pavement and verge, including folks recently installed – at considerable cost - dropped curbs.
You’d think the council would be aware as to wot’s under their footpaths and when considering resurfacing, would contact those utility providers and enquire if they had any infrastructure plans for the next five years thus being able to combine all work with one dig and one resurface.
Looks to me like the council give any required works planning to a primary school to have fun with during the morning break.
Oh, and the latest tarmac resurfacing of the latest trenching was done during steady rain falling from a leaden sky...
