And Then, Up They Go...

That would be energy costs and on the TV this AM, concentrating more on my first coffee rather than wot was happening on the televisual receiving implement, I thought I caught the presenter say, ‘This is the day millions of assholes will be paying more for their energy.’ Whoa! That’s a tad naughty for daytime TV is it not? After a calming gulp of coffee, I realised wot he’d actually said was, ‘...millions of households...’
Of course the ‘news’ channels have been nonstop crying for the poor. Sadly, all their coverage has featured several ‘poor’ well nourished, appropriately facially pierced and tattooed mums, all with a minimum of three kids who were glued to their huge smartphones, all sitting in front of a TV bigger than an old movie theatre screen was. A lot of folk watching must wish they were as well-off as the poor they see on TV.
It’s sad to note that at the precise time energy prices rise, global warming takes a step back. Bit of a bummer for Mrs Bojangles, eh? Wot is this net zero of which they speak? Zero people? Yesterday, where I be, I awoke to the beauty of a white landscape with snow falling. Actually, it was a tad more than snow but not quite hail so somewhere in-between; would that be snail then? No? Oh.
With no apology for repeating myself: Oh to live on an island with secure, easily protected borders. An island rich in deposits of coal, natural gas and oil thus enabling the government to ensure the population they’ve been elected to protect and serve can live in safety and have secure, readily available, reasonably priced energy.
   Then I see
a bunch of nutters are blocking oil terminals. Making friends and influencing people are they? I do hope they’re walking or cycling to and from their their chosen site of protest from and to their candle lit yurts. Yurt gotta’ be kidding.

That Putin is a cunning beastie.
Just after being told by lots of European leaders to stick his oil and gas up his Aral Sea he causes the really really reliable winds to stop blowing.
And all those humongous Mercedes tricorn logos scattered across land and sea to hang idly.
For the last two weeks those billions of pounds of assets have produced close to zero Amps.

But that does not mean that you stop paying.

Doonhamer,
Wind eh? So green they can cover all the green with that other cheap and reliable point of power, solar panels. Save the planet by killing us off? And, as you say, we're paying for our own demise.
The cockroaches must be wetting themselves with excitement.
