Well, so, there you go; in little Lizzy Tizwas we must trust...
Back to TV and I’m guessing you’re all familiar with the endless stream of equity release adverts aimed at the elderly. That’s where you take out a lifetime mortgage at fixed interest so’s you can pay off any loans – like a mortgage – and it don’t need paying back ‘till you die using savings, yeah, right, or selling the house. Not sure how that works if there are two of you living in the drum.
Anyhoo, giving that no never mind, wot I’m here to suggest is a change to the wording of one such advert in particular. The script at present goes something like this;
”Seeing more of the world? Our home helped pay for it.”
”A new kitchen makeover? Our home helped pay for it.”
You’ve seen it right? Shouldn’t the script be re-written to better reflect the present and possibly future state of the country and aim at more fundamental reasons for taking an end of life lone? Something along these lines you think?
”I’m going to put the central heating on for the coldest two days of this coming winter. Our home will help pay for it.”
”Today we’re going to buy some food, cook it and later have a warm shower. Our home will help pay for it.”
”Filling the car up? Our home will help pay for it.”
A tad more realistic you think? Remember this one?
Quote; IRS auditor.
“The trick is to stop thinking of it as ‘your’ money.”
Ha ha - it certainly is a tad more realistic.
