Driving along to the store and remembered I needed cash so pulled into a gas station to use the forecourt ATM thingy.
Did the necessary, pocketed cash and card, turned towards the car and heard and saw a very old guy lying on the deck squawking and writhing in pain. Wot to do? I went over, knelt down, not easy at my age, took the old guys head off the deck, under my arm and tried communicating.
Through huge sobs he managed to indicate that he was heading to pay for gas when his left leg just quit and he crashed to the ground.
I managed to ‘roll’ him into a position to leave his hurt leg unobstructed and by this time the gas station manager ran up to lend assistance.
After about ten minutes he assured us he was now getting feeling back in the naughty leg so the boss and I got him standing and walked him to his car.
A young lady then came over, asked the old guy if he was sure he was okay to drive, where he lived and that she would follow to ensure he got home safely.
With that, I carried on about my business and it wasn’t until some time later I thought, wait a writhing minute here! He said he was heading to pay for gas didn’t he? He didn’t, we got him back to his car and with following help, he drove home.
Now I’m quietly confident it was all quite genuine, right down to the grazed and bleeding elbow, but…

Mac,
ReplyDeleteIts no problem, the garage will have cameras and the guy's registration anyway. I've noticed another trick which is very similar. I just watched the ITV news (a rare occasion) and the presenters were doing the usual Russia war crimes propaganda - over to the intrepid reporter on the spot in Ukraine, interviewing witnesses who got out of Mariupol, where new mass graves have been 'found'. I have two problems with this..
1 - The Mayor of Mariupol said that the graves have been found less than 24 hours ago. He then went on to say they were dug in early April. If the graves were only just discovered, how can he say when they were dug?
2 - When the interviewees are describing the 'Russian war crimes' these people always, without fail, refer to the killers as 'they'. 'They' wouldn't let us leave'. 'They' shelled our flats. No mention of either Russians or Ukrainians.
One thing I find sickening is that ITV display videos from Gonzalo Lira, a US journalist living in Kharkov, who sends honest and truthful reports. These videos are cut to show ITV's narrative. Meanwhile, it was discovered a couple of days ago that Gonzalo Lira has disappeared without trace, believed to have been captured and executed by one of the Ukrainian Nazi brigades.
Ripper,
ReplyDeleteI feel sure the guy was genuine and I'm betting he'll go back and pay when he feels up to it.
Regards the 'war', I just can't handle our 'news' outlets 'reporting' at all. I switch on, take it for all of a minute and hit off as there's absolutely no truthful reporting out there whatsoever.
Mac,
ReplyDeleteSome good news just found.
