And Then, Back To The Beginning...

Well, so, back on the day we went shopping for this here new Tap-Top, I had an idea as to wot I wanted. Nothing fancy, just something to tap away on occasionally{?}.
Ended up in one of they big electrical stores wot had a dizzying display of ‘puters. Spookily, the one that best met my modest needs was all sold out. No big deal as I can wait but my little nest of vipers insisted I keep on looking.
I done did find the same model but it was a heft o’ change more than choice number one. It was at this point things got strange. “Never mind,” she pipe-up, “I buy for you.”
Sadly the shock of wot she said was just too much for me. By pure luck, the store assistant wot was attending to us was fully trained in first aid so soon had me in the recovery position...

Once feeling better and the ‘puter paid for, by her outdoors, home we went.

Unpacked, plugged-in, switched on and I got an instant taste of the trials and tribulations to be sorted to get the damn thing working like wot I’d like as opposed to how Billie’s boys wanted.
And that taste was? ‘Hello, I’m Alexa, and I’ll talk you through setting-up your new computer.’ My response to this kind offer? ‘Alexa, bu-by.’ And she was remarkably and surprisingly easy to delete. Seems all the important stuff was pre-installed; Farcebook, Twatter, Tick-Tacky and similar were all there and I’m happy to report, now all gone.
Anyhoo, the added expense for this machine was down to this fellow having eight thingies of that random memory stuff. I’ve only ever had kit with four before. The difference? This little fellow flies! Man, he be fast and I do mean fast and we really need fast because...
That is it for now as I’m testing Open Live Writer that was eventually accepted by Giggle – don’t ask – but the layout is abysmal and I may revert to just using a text editor, copying into Blogger, fine tuning and posting from there. We’ll see.

  1. I just use MS Word for blog posts, copy and paste into Blogger then remove any formatting and take it from there. That way both Google and Microsoft know what I've written and much good may it do them.

  2. Yeah, but stay away from Cippy, he's been known to drive people mad..

A good, fast and light plain text editor is Editpad. But if you have pics + text to lay out, Libre Writer is as good as Word but free. For graphics manipulation and conversion, Irfanview all day long.

  3. A K Haart, Ripper,
OLW - yes, I may revert to using a text editor as you say it’s just that I hate being beaten by some code kiddy.
I may try ‘composing’ in a word processor then cut and paste into OLW, fine tune and publish from there just to save a log-in. We’ll see.
Ripper, Irfan? Spot on; that’s a hard to beat bit o’ kit. I use Soft Maker Office; small footprint, fast and very customisable.
You use UAC-Pass? Good for those programs that Billy don’t like and insists on popping-up a window asking if you really, really want to run the software. Just run UAC-Pass and drag the ‘problem’ programs shortcut into it and that is all. Next time, no Bully Billy pop-up.
