And Then, Another Folder...

Yup, found another folder in Explorer yesterday similar to Recent. Seems Billy 11 coders are convinced we want to save every search we ever do, either via a browser or just in Windows, to a folder cunningly called Searches. Mine contained every search I’d done since unwrapping this here Tap-top.
Apart from anything else, to little ol’ me, this could be a bit of a dodgy security issue should the Tap-top take a walk to pastures new as it were.
If you’re new to Bully 11 or are going to get updated{?} soon and really don’t want your searches stored, just type Services in the Windows search bar and from there you can disable that search saving trick - and a whole hell of a lot of other kit you may prefer not to kick in on auto when you start your machine.
Ripper; movie maker hidden in Photo. Seems it’s there in 10 as well. Basic. Looks like there’s no visual transitions to place between photos or video clips although you can still add sounds. Nowhere near as functional or user friendly as the old version.
So the fight goes on. Sadly, I had another indication today of how confident I am that I’ll beat Bully Billy.
A-shopping we did go and done did but my little nest of vipers had one more call to make. Pardon? To get her lottery ticket of course. Anyhoo, first we dumped the shopping in the car, left side rear. She then went off and I walked round the rear of the car to the right side, drivers side, climbed in, closed the door, looked around and momentarily wondered where the steering wheel and gear shift had gone. Then my brain engaged first gear. Damn!! I’d climbed in the right side rear. Oh dear, oh dear.
Did I mention this to my little nest of vipers upon her return? No, I decided that it was for the best to be kept quietly between me, myself and I. Oh, and the car park CCTV crew of course. Hope I brightened up their Saturday morning as small consolation.

Mac,
I know its there in W10, built into Photo, but as you say its unusable. Its not there any more on my setup because I removed all the W10 'apps' including Photo. Maps, XBox etc. all gone.

Rant mode on.

I'm in the thick of things at the moment, getting the upstairs prepped for painting and doing some repairs on the floor, used up 32 feet of new floorboard and need to get more, but the holes are gone and it no longer squeaks. My next door neighbour complained about me sanding the bits of old skirting not replaced. Except he complained at my daughter and asked her to 'have a word'. My crime? Packing in at 9pm. I'll carry on as I am until he complains to my face, then he will be politely reminded of all those times in the past, when I've been in bed from a night shift and he's started hammer drilling.. or his dog howling all day because he's out. I've never complained about noise, no matter how bad. But, as he will find out, I expect the same from him when I need to make a noise. Either way, there's a lot of work to do on this house, and its going to get done whether he likes it or not.

Sorry about the rant, but going to my daughter like that without saying anything to me has made me angry. You do not drag innocent parties into your affairs and this just shows he has no balls.

Anyway, now that's off my chest, when I'm done up there and the stuff is back in I'll be checking out that new version of OpenShot and see if Shotcut has been updated. Until then I can't do much as I need somewhere more comfy to sleep asap. Right now its on the sofa in a sleeping bag. Only the painting, carpeting, blinds/curtains and more woodwork to go..

Ripper,
I agree. Complaining to a lady hoping it'll quiet a man down is just not on. Have at it until 22:30 and see who he complains to then...

You up to trying this site for a download of Movie Maker 2012? No, I haven't tried it. The site looks too official to be true. Hard to tell these days although it is https:// if that's worth a carrot.

https://www.winmoviemaker.com/

Don't like a sleeping bag? Put that bloody 'puter down then and get on with it! Keep going 'till twelve, that'll cheer your neighbour up no end.

Mac,
Forgot to say, getting in the wrong seat of the car isn't an age thing. I once spent a good 10 minutes wondering why my car key wouldn't unlock my car and when I tried the key manually, thinking there was something wrong with the key, it kept getting stuck. Eventually I looked up to see my car parked behind the one I was trying to steal. Same colour, different car - I never even noticed it had a different dash and black interior - mine is grey.

Ripper,
That made me feel a little less of a loon. It wasn't your neighbours car was it?

Mac,
Just been to check out that site, its in Columbia. It looks legit and if you scroll down you will see a bit about the site owner and an assurance that the download file is safe. However, a couple of things:

The site owner says that the download button links to the archive.org website - it doesn't. It runs javascript so that's a no from me. My browser has javascript disabled anyway.

Its not just Movie Maker, its Windows Live Essentials 2012. Although, according to the install pictures on the site, you have an option to 'install only the programs you want', Movie maker cannot be installed separately from Photo Viewer and its crap. That's another no.

Although that site owner shows pics of the publisher's certificate, that means nothing as there are too many versions of Live Essentials knocking around with malware embedded. The certificate doesn't change, it only shows that the originator was Microsoft.

Mac, I pack in at 9pm, no later as I need to eat and clean up. I try to get all power tool usage done earlier in the day, but its different when the wood is fixed to the wall. If I need to rip wood down, that's done outside on my table saw, however I have a sliding mitre saw up there, as so much wood is chopped to length I'd spend all day running up/down the stairs. In my mind I've been more than fair given his past antics but if necessary I can play the game much better than him.

Ripper,
Just as I thought. As you say, too many sites with Essentials download and as you say, you'll probably get Essentials with all kinds of nasties added on.

Regards your work; keep on keeping on and when you've finished buy your neighbour a nice bottle of wine and thank him for his understanding during the renovation. He'll feel so shamed, he won't know which way to look. Got ya!!

Mac,
That's not a bad idea! I think that's what I'll do. Its since I started reading these blogs years ago that I found it does no good to appease, these kind of people just come back for more. But shame, yeah, that'll work. Thanks!

I don't know what you are doing regarding video editing. You could give those two programs I mentioned a go. If you do, let me know what they are like compared to Movie Maker.

Ripper,
Happy to pass on an idea and I'm willing to bet that after your neighbour looks at his wine, sits back and thinks things through, you'll probably end up with a really good friend.

I don't do much video editing since I left the real world, but if I check out your two mentions I'll let you know how I get on with them.
