The MSM have seemed a little confused in recent days and, by extension, have confused me.
The two main topics, which change position one and two in importance from one news bulletin to the next, are the prospect of a proper war in the Middle East and that Farcebook fellow getting grilled by a Senate Committee. I’ll lump ‘em together below.
I always thought that Twatter thingy was a messaging platform used by family and friends wishing to share a quick note or idea. I wonder if it ever crossed the minds of those early adopters of that idea that the day would dawn when it would be used to, basically, declare war on another country. How far we’ve fallen when it seems war can, indeed be declared via Twatter.
This war idea seems like lunacy on so many levels. Forget the rights and wrongs regarding what’s really going on over there, and that chemi. business may well be one of they false flag do-dads, if someone really wants to ‘punish’ someone else, isn’t the element of surprise one of your most powerful weapons? Imagine back in the day if Twatter had been about and Churchill had posted something to Mad Alf Heat-Lump telling him to get ready as D-day was a-coming right soon.
Anyhoo, it seems to me, in this social media mad world we now live in, that possibly the most damaging and hurtful thing Trumpton, Mayday, and that French fellow could do to Vlad the Lad and ol’ Basher would be to ‘unfriend’ them both on Farcebook which would probably result in the two of ‘em crying themselves to sleep every night for a month or more and the media going into total meltdown squealing that being ‘unfriended’ on Farcebook is like, totally unfair and like, such an over-the-top punishment for the simple and unverified use of chemical weapons.
However, if it does all kick-off big time remember every cloud has a silver lining and although this silver lining could be a tad radio active, we’d at least get some respite from the present wars without end being waged against sugar, fat, tobacco, alcohol and the motorist.
If you haven’t already, Raedwald is worth a read. As indeed is Oldrightie. Sleep well.
Note: I see Trumpton has taken his finger off the ‘Fire’ button and has now hit the ‘Let Me Think About This A Tad Longer’ button. It’s a mad world.
Quote; Friedrich Nietzsche.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
“If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.” Sun Tzu, The Art of War. Nothing much changed in two and a half thousand years!
ReplyDeleteCaratacus,
ReplyDeleteSo true. So much has changed but the human condition never changes.
Reminded me of the quote oft used by our parents and grand parents and never fully understood. “If you can’t fight, wear a big hat.”
